Following his appearance at Frieze and debut solo exhibition, Mattia Gunera partnered with FLAG INC to present After Art—a bold reimagining of the contemporary art experience. Moving beyond the confines of traditional gallery spaces, this showcase invited audiences into an immersive world where art wasn’t just observed but felt, heard, and lived.
Driven by a vision of accessibility, After Art challenged the exclusivity of the art world by creating an open, interactive space where the art community could thrive. Hosted at Art’otel, the exhibition transformed its environment into a multi-sensory encounter to deepen the connection between the viewer and the work. More than an exhibition, it was a statement—an invitation to start a national conversation about grassroots art.
At the heart of the showcase was Mattia’s signature approach of capturing and enhancing fleeting, often unnoticed moments to reveal the profound intricacies of the human condition. Emphasizing the dichotomy of identity, his compositions frequently blur the line between the physical and the ephemeral, encouraging audiences to explore their perceptions of balance.
The FLAG INC in-house set design team amplified this by crafting an environment where his pieces could be experienced in visual dialogue, incorporating light, sound, and texture to interact dynamically with each artwork. A short film was produced for the exhibition, documenting Gunera’s inspirations and creative process and offering a rare behind-the-scenes perspective. Artworks were displayed and sold, allowing collectors to acquire a piece of his craftsmanship. As guests departed, they carried more than just memories—they left with a renewed appreciation for the evolving nature of contemporary art, the power of immersive storytelling, and the transformative potential of artistic expression.
